The 12 principles of animation
Squash and Stretch:
as the 5 bounces it compresses deep into the ground to achieve a realistic bounce.
Anticipation:
In order to make the flip the 5 has to do a few prep jumps.
staging:
as this is a basic animation it it simply centered.
pose to pose:
as this animation used a story board in order to assure that the flip looks real.
Follow Through:
After the 5 lands and turns into and you'll notice it 'stand up'
slow in/ out:
The five bounces faster at the top and bottom of the jump than when its in the air.
Arc:
The arc of the flip
Secondary Action:
thier is little secondary action until the end when the 5 is turning into an S while jumping and spinning.
Timing:
The 5 is only flipping for as long as he can jump instead of having crazy air time in the flip.
exaggeration:
the jumping motion of the 5 is heavily compressed at the bottom.
Solid Drawing:
the 5 has solid structure and central balance
Appeal:
I tried using a generic looking 5 and S instead of something heavily stylized for a clean and simple look
