This week we read our final chapter for class which was chapter 7 of 'The Moving Image Workshop" which focuses on experimental styles of animation. Their are five large categories commonly used for thee experimental uses starting with one of the oldest animation methods, stop-motion animation which a photo is taken for each frame of the film. Another Experimental style of animation would be CGI animation which started as a high end style for animation is now available in our phones for free.
When looking back at recent animations from 2014 to the present I think the animation that has left me in awe would be the recent Lil' Dicky music video for "Earth". I like the fast pace transitions in the video as it allows for a large story to be told in a short amount of time. I hope to be able to replicate this quick animation style in my final project.
When looking at the short interview passage from William Kentridge I found of his answers to be quite enlightening during the stress that comes with finals. Kentridge states his work in animation comes from a lack of commitment. Each frame only flashes on the screen for a fraction of a second allowing for mistakes to go past the viewers eyes. I find this comforting as I'm feeling daunted by my final but know that my first full animation wont be my best.
